Arbourthorne parents club together to run a Reverse Christmas Advent Calendar for a local food bank.

The scheme was put together by parents from Arbourthorne Community Primary School in partnership with the ‘An Even Better Arbourthorne Project’.

The parents asked families to put together a Christmas hamper full of food, toiletries and small gift items.

Rebecca Gillot, who helped organise the drive, said: “We wanted to give something back to the community as no family should ever be without food but especially at Christmas.

“It just restores your faith in humanity knowing so many that come together for such a great cause.”

The hampers will be put together until mid-December. Then they will be collected and donated to the S2 Food Bank Group, where they will be distributed to local families in time for Christmas.

People can show support by putting hampers together, donating individual items or donating money towards hampers.

The ‘An Even Better Arbourthorne’ project works to address the causes of hardship in the community.

They also run a community fridge which is open between 3:00 and 3:30pm every Thursday and Friday at Arbourthorne Community Primary School.
